Fundraising update!
We've raised over $30,000 total, $10,000 since August, and
$1,800 already in November. We also have at least one pledge of $3,000 a year for the next 15 years to cover one month's bump. That pledge alone is worth $45,000

Rugby Foundation Mixer
The Foundation held a mixer for potential supporters of the Rugby land project at BD Rileys Pub on October 18th. The attendees included several new faces to the ever growing support group for the Foundation and our current project. We received some great tips and suggestions from these seasoned philanthropists. And a big "thank you" to Tom Neville at Northern Trust for sponsoring the liquid refreshments and to John Erwin and BD Rileys for supplying the venue and excellent pub food. Stay tuned for the date of the next mixer.

Rugby Land project moving along
Our donations are up to $7000 since the kick-off event with the addition of a stock donation this week for a total of over $26,000. Please contact the fundraising committee to establish your level of support. You can also donate directly through the Donations tab on this website.
We've had some good news from the project team. The zoning piece of the puzzle got a little easier as we are exploring conditional use permits under our current zoning. This saves us some money and a lot of time as we march towards our closing and final feasibility. We also took a large leap forward on the driveway that will connect our facility to our entrance on Nuckols Crossing. We have discovered that a 40 foot stretch of flat and tree-free ground belongs in our parcel. This could save us well over $100,000 in our original estimates for building our entrance road.
We've got a long way to go to our March deadline and goal of raising $200,000.

Board Changes and a new Committee
In order to best leverage the time and talents on the current Foundation Board we have made a few internal changes of title. Mark Traeger is the new Board President. We appreciate Artie's support and leadership for the past 5 years. Art Acuna has moved to an at-large member position and will continue to head the Site Development committee. Terry Nixon is the new Treasurer. The position of Vice President of Operations will not be immediately filled.
We have formed a new committee to be chaired by Mitch Pryor; Community Development. This committee will focus on two key pieces to our success; 1) pursuing grants and public money, and 2) exploring other charities and groups, especially in the immediate community around our field, with whom we can partner for future charitable work. Stitching together partnerships with current organizations, especially those focused on youth, and understanding how the Foundation and the Huns RFC can support them and work together for the success of everyone is key to our project.

The rugby land project kick-off was a success.
We had over 30 attendees who all showed tremendous support and excitement for our proposal. After a slide-show presentation and interactive tour of the land the attendees mixed and mingled at the property with refreshments discussing the project and the possibilities for the development.
This event and the first pitch at the Huns agm has raised over $6000 in donations and more in pledges. Unfortunately we missed several key former Huns at the August 26 kick-off event. Establishing this "inner circle" of former Huns and rugby supporters is absolutely key to our being able to identify and approach potential donors. We are trying to reach everyone who could help, and secure their involvement. We have set up a "missing link" button on the Huns website at http://hunsrugby.com/. Have a look at the names and help us locate these individuals. You can also contact Mitch Pryor at mpryor@mail.utexas.edu as the "old boy" contact or Mark Traeger at marktraeger@earthlink.net.
Thanks to the American Legion Knebel Post 83 for their support in hosting our event.

On August 26, you are invited to participate in the event that will kick off an era that many of us have dreamed of for the Huns and Rugby in Central Texas. We have found a parcel of land in Southeast Austin that is suitable for the development of a top quality rugby facility. There is ample room for two lighted pitches, a clubhouse, showers and changing rooms, a playground, picnic area, parking and a half-mile green belt.
The Rugby Foundation placed the 18.3 acres under contract in March of 2006. Volunteer work teams and committees are being formed to undertake fundraising, site planning, feasibility studies, and project planning.
The Rugby Foundation and the Huns Board ask that you join us at the American Legion Knebel Post 83, at 4401 St Elmo Rd in Austin at 2p on Saturday, August 26th for refreshments, an in-depth informational presentation and discussion of the project followed by a tour of the property which is just around the corner from the Legion hall.
